Athletic Program Policy 4050 The purpose of IHMCS athletics is to provide students in grades 5-8 the opportunity to develop physical coordination, knowledge of a specific team game, development of friendships through athletic participation and the ability to apply Christian values in a sport setting.
Participation IHMCS supports the inclusion of all students in grades 5-8 that wish to participate within an extracurricular sporting activity. No student will be denied membership if signed up by the appropriate deadline. Individuals wishing to be a member of a team must meet all standards to be considered a member of the team. The athlete will be invited to all games and practices and wear appropriate team uniform. Standards:
Establish and maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA or better and/or a passing grade in each subject.
Comply fully with all school student conduct policies and procedures.
Have completed and signed a registration form.
Pay the applicable registration fees.
Team size and formation shall be determined at the Athletic Director’s discretion. Teams can only be composed of students that either attend IHMCS or belong to IHM parish. Playing Time Practice and games provide opportunities to develop team unity and spirit in line with Christian principles. This is supported through individuals:
Showing respect for coaches, referees and other team members.
Understanding that academics are always first.
IHMCS understands the difference in athletic ability and encourages all skill levels to participate.
At the Cub Level (grades 5-6) equal playing time is encouraged in the development and understanding of the game.
At the varsity level (grades 7-8) every player will participate at the discretion of the coaches.
Supervision Parents/guardians are responsible for getting the athletes to and from practices and games. Coaches are responsible for the athletes during the practices/games and must stay at the site until all athletes have left with an appropriate individual.
