Early Release
Our league has many different school locations and release times. As a result, there may be a need for students to be released early from school. We have certain procedures that must be followed in the event of an early release for student athletics.
Early release time is at 3:30 PM
All students on a team need to have a note from their parents on the day of the game to allow them to be dismissed at 3:30.
The note must state the following:
*Child’s name and homeroom teacher.
*Name of the adult they are permitted to ride with(student may only ride with the driver stated on the note).
*Sport they are leaving for.
Weather/ Game Cancellation
In Minnesota weather can change quickly. There may be times when games will be canceled as a result of weather issues. Due to the busy schedules of both the sites and the teams, every attempt will be made to reschedule games, but it is not always possible.
Games will never be canceled before 2:30 PM on weekdays or 7:00 AM on weekends, so do not attempt to call the information line before then.
You may call 952-942-1818 to hear a message either stating that games are canceled for that day, or that you have reached the SSYO and to leave a message.
If there is no message regarding game cancellation, games will be played as scheduled.
In the event that games are rescheduled, the Athletic Director will inform the coaches who will relay the information to athletes and their parents.
Parent Volunteers
Our teams are able to exist thanks to the time and talents of parent volunteers. Without our generous volunteer parents, we would not have coaches or drivers to get the players to their games.
Coaches
In order to coach or assist with a team you need to complete the following steps prior to coaching:
*Contact your Athletic Director.
*Complete the Archdiocesan sponsored VIRTUS training session “Protecting Our Children”.
*Complete an Archdiocesan background check.
*Have a positive attitude and a willingness to coach.
Carpool Drivers
In order to drive children other than your own from IHMCS to another school you need to complete the following steps:
*All Volunteer driver must have a Driver Information Form completed and on file in the school office prior to carpooling student athletes.
*All volunteer drivers must complete an Archdioceses background check prior to carpooling students.
*All students must be signed out and picked up at the office before 3:45 PM.
*Have the patience to collect and drive a number of students to another site in rush hour.
Parents
To insure a fun and successful season in any sport, all parents need to help in the following areas:
*Let the coach do the coaching.
*Be supportive of the coach.
*Volunteer to work concessions, scoreboard or scorebook at home games.
*Support your child and help them grow as an individual in finding their place on the team.
*Follow all school and league policies regarding conduct.
